No I do not agree with you because this is not what actually is the draw down. Rather draw down is the percentage of amount that one loses in his trading over a period of time. It does not include any opened trades.

if you want to have a consistent forex technique that I think do not have to have a lot of complicated strategies and also indicators that super advanced so we just need to be diligent and continue to try to fix the system that we run, if it fails to be in search of what caused the failure so the longer the the technique will be more perfect.

A drawdown is measured from the time a retrenchment begins to when a new high is reached. This method is used because a valley can't be measured until a new high occurs. Once the new high is reached, the percentage change from the old high to the smallest trough is recorded.
