As a frequent driver in the UK, I find it common to see drivers changing lanes on motorways and turning off traffic Islands and junctions without giving any indication.

Most people that I talk to that admittedly do not use them, do so intentionally; and the reason?

"Evey time I do the person behind me speeds up and wont let me in"

Funny thing is, I probably over use my signal, if that is even possible, and I rarely experience this phenomenon although it does happen, some people are just assholes. Learn to be a bit more aggressive but only when necessary.

One might ask why, or even tell me anecdotally that they agree with those interviewed.

Here is what I say...

In most cases, if that is the case, it is probably your fault. If you are doing this just before your change and forcing the person whose line you are interrupting, to brake, then you deserve what you get.
