Problem with MT4 not saving Global Variables for live account but will for demo

Hello,
I am running an ea that requires global variables to manage trades. In demo the globals are saved by the ea and can be seen from pressing F3, but on my live account the global variables are not being saved and it is ruining the correct operation of my EA. I read in another thread that micro accounts have a period after the name "usdchf." as opposed to the standard and demo account which do not "usdchf". Could this be the problem or is it something else?
