Disclaimer: I'm still learning to trade, but:

I've been getting an excellent success rate from trading trends in the 5 minute chart, using the 1 minute chart, which is sanity checked via the 15 minute chart.

I used to trade the 1 minute chart only, it was a bloddy experience. From all those months though, i'm inclined to look to the shorter timeframes which i effectively trade, but the price formations on the longer timeframes keep me out of trades in the 5/1 min charts that used to loose pips.

Having the 1, 5 and 15 min charts up (all with the same indicators) and trading the 5 and 1 minute chart, at the same time is proving a happy setup for me.

From having moved from 1 to 5 minute practice, the main difference seems to be you actually have time to think about the trade.. 1 minute charts was more reactive rather than proactive, especially when the market is more volatile
