The first model we'll test buys when the TII crosses below 20 and sells/shorts when it breaks over 80, using the same strategy as the RSI. Until the positions reach the exit value, we keep them.
The fundamental principle is that there should be nearly equal price movement on days above and below the SMA. We take a position and wait for a series to return to the mean when it departs from the long-run average.

Trading strategy

The TII can be used as a momentum indicator, similar to RSI and other oscillators, by purchasing when it crosses above the centerline and selling/shorting when it crosses below it. To address this, we'll add a slight variation where we hold while the TII is above a certain level and then sell if it continues to decline below that level. The short side receives the same treatment. This will allow us to exit positions more quickly and, perhaps, for a higher profit than if we waited until it completely reversed back to the centerline.

Now that we have the signal line, I made the decision to include a bonus model. When the TII signal crosses the centerline, we may use that as a traditional momentum indication to purchase.
