firstly try to find some site that give the daly signals and try to follow them , ther is many site online that give you this possibility , then try to use the stop lose and target with small pips to keep your money on your pocket

You can stop your loss by learning forex trading properly and practice into Demo Account for at least 5 months. You have learn all the candlesticks pattern like Doji, Harami, Marobuzu, Evening star, Morning Star, Engulfing pattern, Shooting star, Hammer, Inverted Hammer etc. There are about 40 to 50 candlesticks pattern. So you have to learn all these candlesticks pattern before trading into real account. You must have to know Bollinger Bands and MACD. Then you have to practice into Demo Account with this learning for at least 5 months. When you see that you are 85% to 90% correct, then you will be able to trade into real account; otherwise not. and then you will be able to stop your loss

i suppose you need money management to avoid massive loss and you need to trade with better strategy than what you trade with now and take my advice if you see yourself loss a heap of cash stop trading and strive to know the mistakes and additionally begin to trade on demo account at that point

stop loss is very effective all the time but as per your question that how to use the stop loss effectively i would say that we should have our plans to divide then take profit and stop loss not equally but with the ration of 1:2
