If you want to trade by scalping then small time frame of 5m, 15m, 30m is best , if you want to go for long trade then you must trade on big time frame like 4h,1day chart, mostly i use 4h and one day chart for trading.

depend upon your trading time, you will do this trading within one day, you will select the 1 hr chart. it will useful to analysis the currencies pair. if you do the long term trading, you will select the 1 day chart . it is useful for the long term trading.
