What is Pin Bar-Candle Stick Pattern?



The market from time to time creates patterns in the candle chart which can predict its future movement and with the help of these patterns they can be traded by detecting various Turning Points in the market. These Patterns are so many but we will mention only 4 which are widely traded especially in the Forex market.Pin Bar Pattern

Pin Bar or Pinocchio Bar is the single most traded pattern in Forex which has high chances of success. Like the rest of the patterns, the pin bar is a reversal pattern which means to predict a change in the opposite direction of the market. For example, if the current market trend is upward or Bullish, the reversal will turn it downwards or Bearish, and if the current market trend is downward, the reversal will turn it upside or bullish.
The pin bar can be traded on all time frames but the chances of success in longer time frames like H4 and Daily chart increase it dramatically.
Pin Bar Description

As the name suggests. The pin bar is a long tail, wick or shadow bar whose real body is very small. To understand this, consider the example on left side.You can see that the pin bar has One Sided Tail which shows the Rejection of the market in a particular part of the chart i.e. there is a lot of activity of Buyers or Sellers who do not allow the price to move and they are constantly rejecting it.
The technical point of view of an Up Pin Bar is explained by the fact that during the Down Move, when the sellers were more active in the market and the market was constantly selling off, then buyers entered the market. And while absorbing all the Sell Orders, the price was pushed up and finally the candle closed very high above its low and this long tail of the candle is showing the resistance from the buyers to stop further lowering the price. This whole situation is pointing out that the balance of power has now shifted from Sellers to Buyers. The market is bought when an Up Pin Bar appears.
Similarly, in a Down Pin Bar, all the orders of the buyers were absorbed by the sellers which forced the price to come down and the candle closed far below its high which clearly showed the weakness of the buyers in the market. Sellers have taken complete control. The market is sold when a down pin bar appears.
