A downtrend in currency occurs when the values decrease a becomes a formal downtrend when each data point is lower then the last. Downtrends can last for any length of time, ranging between minutes and years. The longer they last, the greater their impact your portfolio. By recognizing a downtrend early on, you can avoid buying currencies with declining values. Downtrends can also a good time for selling short.

In my opinion this is not like that as you have described in your thread. Each currency pair has its own terms and conditions and they vary according to some specific trend. Each pair got some disturbance with the news effects and when news beats the market they change their trend into some new direction. So always have a brief knowledge of market and as well as of news.
